Default Fd2 key fob 2006

Hi, my fold out key fob has legit, fallen to pieces. Can you please tell me where abouts the chip would be in the key thing. My bf reckons the chip was on the metal part that goes into the ignition. We dodged it up n glued the broken plastic metal stuff together to ve able to move the car (it works yes) but im trying to work out if all i need is to buy another case with the blank key and transfer the transponder and chip or do i have to get a whole new key/transponder cut and programmed

IIRC, the transponder is soldered onto the board. You may have to get a new one.

Would the chip be where the broken/cracked bit is? Or in the clear thing inside the case?
