Default Launch control cap and rotor foul

Good day everyone. In need of some help. I have a 00 civic with a 97 h22 swap when I use launch control my distributor cap builds up corrosion and rotor fouls. I'm using the external msd blaster 2 coil. This is the second time it happens. Is this a common issue when using L.C or is something worng?

It may be oversparked because of the timing retard that you've set your launch control. The blaster coil is working so efficiently that it's going to wear down distributor cap and rotor parts more quickly.

So, 1) stop staying in launch mode (timing retard) for such a long period of time and so often 2) you need better ignition to work with your blaster coil other than the stock, or you'll just keep going through caps/rotors.

Yes, the ignition box. Like the following from MSD or Mallory:

In essence, it multiplies the spark needed to use your launch control without killing your original ICM and distributor. Increased spark = better fuel combustion = better use of your spark plugs, rotor and distributor.

With an ignition box, it complements your ignition coil, and saves your distributor and rotor. There's no point using an external coil if the car can't deliver more spark for better combustion, even in a retard timing situation as your launch control.

So, you need one of these, or continue to buy new distributor cap & rotor, (and eventually change spark plugs more often.)

And yes, this is used on Forced Induction applications all the time. Some just revert to a Coil on Plug system.

Shodan said everything I was going to say, and then some.

but the key here is 1) get an ignition box, and 2) STOP RUNNING IT AT LAUNCH CONTROL ALL THE TIME!!!! seriously. unless you're at the starting line at the drag strip, stop hitting launch control. there is absolutely no purpose to using launch control anywhere besides the starting line of a drag strip unless you admire being a stereotypical ricer that everyone including other honda enthusiast hate.

ok cool. I strongly suggest getting a control box then. digital 6a (not 6aL) would be my recommendation.
