I am about to purchase a 95 GSR motor out of an integra, was wondering if 95's came with VIN numbers on the block?

Also, when purchasing an engine from an individuals, what kind of papers do I need to show that it is legit that the insurance company will accept?

I'm pretty sure that started in '96, but I'm not totally sure so don't take my word for it..... You are talking about the VIN on the front of the block above the oil pan right???

 

yeah that's the one, I have a 2000 si block and it is pressed onto the block, just wondering if 95's had em?

 

if that metal vin plates started in 96 then where are the VINs located on the 95? if it existed that is..?

 

Yea, that's what I was saying 95 and newer motors didn't come with them....

 

so how do you tell me if their legit or not? same goes for JDM motors too since they dont come with VIN #'s at all.

 

They still have the serial number under the engine stamp... The VIN is just the same as the car that it came out of.. What really matters is the serial. My friend had a B16B in his EK and they tried to run the numbers on it like 3 times but they couldn't find anything. I guess the Jspec **** doesn't show up over here.
