I am about to purchase a 95 GSR motor out of an integra, was wondering if 95's came with VIN numbers on the block and where is it located, b/c the newer ones i heard have a metal vin plate located above the oil pan?

Also, when purchasing an engine from an individuals, what kind of papers do I need to show that it is legit that the insurance company will accept?

There was a post this yesterday... I'm pretty sure they started the engine block VIN in '96.. Like I said yesterday don't take my word for this.. I've worked an many OBD1 motors and just thinking back I don't think that I've ever seen them on them.. I have also worked on OBD2 motors and I know I've seen them on them... As for telling the insurance I don't really know about that.. Latez

 

you can either get a bill of sale w/copy of reg. with car owner's name on it.

 

I'm 99% sure that your right JDMspecEG6. I have a 95 gsr without the metal vin plate, and a friend has the 96 with the vin plate. So, yea, im pretty sure 96 is the first year.
