1996 Civic EX power steering squeal
Power steering is squealing at startup, sometimes it goes away after a few seconds, sometimes it doesn't. I could drive 10 miles and it will start squealing while sitting at a red light, goes away with acceleration.
So I found a used one and replaced it, same noise. Then I replaced the pressure switch in the hose, same noise. Fluid is topped off, belt is not too loose or too tight, tried it with different tensions.
Any ideas what else I should be looking for?

Check the belt. How old is the belt? How old is the fluid? When was the last time both of those got replaced?
Im guessing old cracked belt and possibly old dirty fluid.
Are you certain its the power steering making the noise? My alt belt was old and it would squeal and squeak at startup.
Check all your accessory belts, all 3.

+1 Squealing at startup is usually the alternator, since it is working hard to recharge the battery drained by starting.
If it is the power steering it will generally also squeal every time you turn the steering wheel all the way right or left until it hits the stop. When the car is going straight ahead and you are not turning the steering wheel, there is very little stress on the power steering belt.
