D16y8 98 civic ex headgasket replaced car cranks but wont start
I recently blew the HG on my 98 civic ex
I removed my cylinder head and took it to a machine shop because my heads aluminum and aluminum warps with heat long story short is before removing my cylinder head I did not turn my motor by hand to TDC I slipped my timing belt off the cam gear and slipped it back on connected everything back together torqued my head bolts down put it oil with coolant and a new battery and my car cranks but doesn't start . I tested for spark and I am getting spark and I can hear my fuel pump prime when the key is in the ignition my car cranks but it doesn't start and I believe I'm getting fuel too . I'm thinkin my timinf is off that's why it's not stating and their are no cel lights on . Is it possible I bent valves ? Or is my timing belt just not in time correctly? Please help it's my first time replacing a hg and I need help thank you

Well. First u need to take the valve cover off. Turn the engine by hand, to tdc. Then see how much timing is off. Then go from there.
thanks fo the reply , if it's at tdc on my cam gear wouldn't I have to check the bottom of my engine to near the water pump ? I feel like maybe it's just the top part is misaligned do i need to remove my timing belt and turn it by hand ? And then reinstall it ? I want to do a compression test just to make sure my valves aren't bent
alright, hood version it is. slip the belt back off, set the cam to tdc, and rotate the block to tdc. slip belt back on, set tension. job done.
