Brake light switch coupe 95
Can somebody tell me how can I test the brake light switch of mu civic 95 ? i've check the fuses and everything and I think this is the problem, but i'm not really sure, my brake lights don't turn on, but every other lights work perfect
Interesting you should ask... I just recently (October) posted up the ETM pages concerning the rear tail lights and wiring etc for the 92-95 civics (all models) in the thread linked below. Please read through the thread and you will have all the information concerning fuses and wiring from the front to the back as all pages are present. Post #18 is the ETM pages (ETM is Electrical Troubleshooting Manual).

The fuse for the brake lights is under the hood in the box next to the battery. The horn is on the same fuse. Sooo.. does the horn work?
The switch should have power on one wire all the time, and on the other wire when the pedal is pressed. If you have a 4 wire switch (the other two wires are for cruise control), check the two big wires.
It is quite possible for ALL the brake light bulbs to be burnt out, if no one has checked them for a while.

the stop horn fuse is well i've check it yesterday. also the bulbs, I tried to test the switch with a multimeter checking the continuity , and there is always continuity , when the button is pressed and when it isn't.
Does - the - horn - work?
Set meter on DC volts. Put the black wire on ground and the red wire to test each of the two wires at the brake light switch (Leave everything plugged in, backprobe the connector). One should have 12 volts and the other zero. When you push the pedal they should both have 12 volts.

Hello all,
I don't see my issue on here yet I think I'm in the right spot. I have a 1995 Honda Civic DX. It's a 4-door sedan without cruise control.
My problem is that the switch is staying on. I went out a couple mornings ago and my battery was dead. Had no idea of what caused it
so I charged it up and was waiting for a sign. I looked outside last night and my driveway was all lit up in red. The brake lights were on.
And with nobody in the car. I went out and pulled the brake pedal out all the way to see if it was sticking. It seemed fine but I gave it all
a few shots of WD-40. The car was dead again this morning. I went back under and sprayed the switch a few times thinking maybe it
was just dry and sticking.
I've checked quite a few times by getting out and looking to see if the brake lights were on. They haven't been. I'm thinking maybe it's
time to replace the switch. Anybody every heard of anything like this???

There is a plastic piece which is on the brake pedal arm.Over time it breaks and falls off.The arm no longer pushes the switch plunger when no pressure is on the pedal. Check for plastic bits on your driver;s side floor. I have had exactly the same issue, and bought the part and replaced it.
Missing the plastic piece on the pedal would make the brake lights to stay on. When the switch is pushed in the lights should turn off. I recently had the thing crumble too.

Got a 95 civic coupe dx. Changed over to leds and had no issue. Week later brake lights stop working and won't disengage parking brake. Went to remove brake light switch and didn't unclip it first so it spun wires. Test for volts at plug nothing. Fuse shows 14.5 . Anyone got a wiring diagram so I can jump over bad section and safely drive with my kids again.
