Vin Number Stickers on 96-00 civic. What year did they start?
My 96 does not have the vin number stickers on any of the fenders, doors, hood, or trunk. What year did honda start putting them on the 96-00 civics?
My late 1996 cars have them, the early to mid 1996 cars did not have them. My 96 had alot of miles but I never recall seeing the vin stickers on any body panels unlike the 97's I've had
I started a thread for assembly markings on my 96
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...kings-3240645/
For example on my 1996 hx made in may of 96 it did not have the fender stickers, or the rear bumper stickers.
My 1997 model made in 9/29/96, and another made 4/27/97 has them on:
Each front fender
Each door
Rear bumper
Rear trunk

Ifrom what I have gathered in 1997 Honda switched to a global one design platform which connected assembly plants to manufacture the exact same car to the exact specifications to make a more one design vehicle.
1996 models typically had more grease pen markings on the plant that labeled what part went to what vehicle instead of vin stickers. My early 96 hx had lots of grease pen markings on suspension pieces and under the hood and behind the bumper written on the inside of OEM pieces

I tried looking for the vin number stickers that came on the fenders, doors, hood and trunk but they are missing (the door does have the a large sticker with vin but not like the one that is suppose to be on the fenders) my 97 civic does have them but my 96 civic
does not. I have read threads where people say 96 did not come with the vin stickers, can anyone confirm that?

Well my 96 has a large sticker inside the door with a bar code thqt says it was mad august of 96. Would it not have had the stickers?
I know at least some of the '96s didn't come with VIN tags on the transmission, the holes will be there, but no tag. I can't remember about the VIN stickers on body panels, but I want to say early production didn't have them.
To be more clear, the 1996 models I have seen do not have the small, let's call them vin labels, on the body panels like the 1997 and newer does. (At least I do not recall finding these labels on my previous 96 vehicle)

I re checked my 1997 just now, the panels will have the vin labels on the following pieces,
Each front fender
on the bottom of the hood towards the battery
In each door jamb by the skid plate under the door open button
on each door above, the latch assembly on the door assembly
on the rear trunk lid, to the right of the latch mechanism on the physical trunk lid
On the rear bumper along the body line that tucks under the trunk lid. Should be directly in the middle on the bumper Infront of the body latch.
I could not verify front bumper labels, mine appears to have been replaced at some point
Helping to find or not find these vin labels will help you determine if the vehicle has been in any collisions. I was very detailed with my 1996 hx and don't remember cataloging them, and can't find pictures to verify that 1996 models didn't have these stickers.
So if you have a 96 and can't find any of these stickers anywhere you can confirm it for me lol

all years will have the large vin number sticker with barcode from the factory in the door jamb, along with exterior color, interior color, and tire inflation stickers
