Default 94 Civic blower doesn't work

Hi guys I'm new to a 94 civic dx basic as basic as it gets. I have a question about he climate control. the owner before me did some wiring crap. the climate control speed does not work at all. I can select where it blows cold hot temp but not speed. now whoever had this car wired sone manual switch on the left side of the console that turns on the fan full blast. can't adjust speed on it's on. Now with the engine completely off and key out I can still turn on the blower fan with the switch. where do I start looking? what steps? thanks in advance.

To get access to the back side of your climate control, you have to remove the bottom center console that has your ashtray and sits under your stereo.

Then you have to pull your stereo out. After that you can get to the screw(s) that hold the climate control in. I don't remember off the top of my head if it's 1 or 2 screws.

The blower is behind the glove box.

I suspect the speed selector switch died and so they did a number to direct wire the blower. When you take all that stuff apart so you can see the wiring that runs along from the blower to the center of the dash behind the climate controls, you can better see just what you are dealing with.

Power to the fan motor comes from a fuse and relay in the box under the hood next to the battery. Normally, the relay only closes when the ignition is on, this is what makes it stop when the key is off.

The ground side of the circuit for the fan motor is completed through the control panel switch. If you select a speed less than the highest, the resistor pack in the ductwork behind the glove box is involved.
