D16Z6 terrible startup issues
Need some help guys
94 Civic EX, D16Z6 on a manual transmission, located in Mt. Vernon/sunbury/columbus ohio
Bought the motor off craigslist march 2015 and installed it myself, this is my first fall/winter running the motor
Everything runs fine and usually starts fine except when it's 65 degrees or below outside my car does some crazy ****
I discovered about a week ago bosch platinum plugs were installed and i got NGK's installed asap, the video i'm linking is this past weekend after work, with the new NGK's. when i put my foot on the gas in the video i did about 1/2 throttle.
The motor also has that idle problem some older hondas get where the idle goes up and down
https://youtu.be/oOkKT0FnlQ0
Pulled engine codes yesterday:
6, 17, 9
I'm assuming if the CEL only blinks fast for a number then thats a single-digit code number... #9 may be of interest in this case
i have a neighbor that heard a horrible startup one morning like the video and he said it sounded like someone retarded the timing... like the distributor was messed with or something
also did a compression test
Compression test results:
-Motor warm at normal operating temps
-was unable to disable ignition system for this run because i couldnt get the connector to seperate until afterwards
-Gas pedal was put all the way to the floor for this run... Not sure if gas was spraying into the cylinders, pedal all the way to the floor is supposed to shut off the fuel injectors i believe
- girlfriend cranked while i sat and watched the compression guage to record the results immediately
Cyl 1: 160
Cyl 2: 190
Cyl 3: 160
Cyl 4: 170
Confused as to why cyl 2 has a significantly higher reading... Maybe fluid in the cylinder?
Any and all help is appreciated

Record a video of your CEL codes. But before you do.....
Reset your ECU by pulling the 7.5A (back-up) fuse in the under hood fuse box to reset the CEL codes. Run the car and see what codes return.
Provide us with a video of the return codes.
We'll start with that.
