Two question:SRS light and RPMs for 1995 accord station wagon
I'm a new 95 Honda Accord wagon owner. Always had Toyotas. It is automatic and I have never owned anything but manual transmissions. The car also has a tachometer which seemed unusual for auto, but what do I know.
Anyway, when I'm driving I am almost always under 2000 rpms except on the interstate when I reach 60 mph. I've always thought that anything under 2000 rpm was pretty much lugging the engine. What am I missing??
The SRS light is on and I've looked at the various solutions. Is there a problem with ignoring the light as long as i understand that the bag might not deploy in a collision?
New to the site and In all honesty I'm not sure I will ever be able to add much, but i sure could use some help on these issues.
Thanks

All Accords had Tachs, standard equipment. A known issue is a low tach reading on older Accords. Below 1500 the tach is pretty accurate, but becomes progressively delayed in higher rpms. Tach in my '95 is also faulty. Reads 2K when it is 3K and 3K when it is near 4K. There is a tach test lead underhood to hook a diagnostic tach(or any tach) up to to verify that it is the gauge that is faulty and not the igniter. Sometimes that tach issue may be from a loose connection at the top of the cluster.
I've read it can just need to be 'readjusted', never heard that on factory tachs. Or that a resistor has failed, but no one seems to know where or what to check to verify or what values to look for.
There are screws on the back of the Tach that may be the reason for the fault. But you will need ot be thorough before adjusting anything. One of the screws for the fuel gauge attachment is a lead for the fuel gauge and can be easily broken causing the gauge to read full at all times.
If the SRS lamp is on or flashing, look under/behind the glove box door. There will be two blue colored plugs, pull down the two wire blue plug. Jumper it with a wire. Turn the ignition switch to II(ON) and count the blinks from the SRS lamp.
