Starting a car thats been sitting?
I have a 91 dx that has been sittin about a year but i want to get it running again..
it ran perfectly when it was parked, but it was parked and left, never prepped for the long wait. Any little tricks do starting it up for the first time? or things i should check?
thanks ahead of time

new fuel, clean leads, clean replace electronics, new plugs, new battery. remove plugs and turn by hand. replace plugs, disconnect leads and spin on starter. re-connect plug leads and start on key. my uk 89 crx had been literally left for a year and started first time.
good luck!

or you could just drop the tank. In some cars there is a plug that can be unscrewed.
You may not think it neccisary but I just bought a 91 CRX Si and it had been sitting for a year straight, guy changed teh oil 6 months in and just before I bought it. Only started it once or twice within the year. It started right up after the battery was charged.

just "starting it up", it will probably start but that doesnt mean it isnt putting alot of stress and potentially damaging the motor by doing so. I'm pretty sure it will fire up, most do. Charge and check battery for leaks. then do a major tune-up BEFORE starting. plugs maybe wires, check the points on the car and rotor (just sand them down a little if they're worn) Then the fuel issues which i've never had to deal with so i'll leave that to someone else to explain, call a mechanic shop and ask them what you should do about the gas tank, they may say drop and drain to be safe.

also you may want to have a mallet on han. sometimes the alternator rusts up a bit and won't turn. You'll hear a lot of squealing, that's the belt rubbing on the stuck pully. Shut the motor off and give the pully a tap using a piece of wood to cushion the blow.
when i got my 86 it ran like **** cuss the gas was old and rotton!! so on mine i drain gas all the way!!! pick the right side of the car up and let it drain. the plug is on the left side least mine!! then plug it off and get you a jerry can of the best pump gas you can get put some gas into it and drive to the parts store. i used nos fuel injeckter cleaner plus nos octan booster the racing kind. then go to gas station, right. then put both bottles of the nos stuff in i do the octane booster first don't matter really. then fill up after you put the stuff in. drive away and go kinda slow and swearv like a mother beeper to mix it all up run the hole tank. and run it hard!!!! that will clean that **** out reall good!!!!! then next fill up befor you run out go to parts store get that nos octan booster racing kind again then go to gas station put the nos octan booster in then fill up again just like beofor!! then swerv to slush it up!!! run that tank norm. to hard. i hope this help i know it help me alot!!! you should try it
