German Del Sol ESi model - Fogs only come on when brights flipped on
Simple enough. You buy a Del Sol. It's a fixer upper. You've been through the whole wiring Fogs before. No problem. Now we come to this crap. My fog lights work but not the way they should. They only come on when I flip the brights on. However equally strange the brights don't come on at all the headlights stay on low beam. They do not turn on or off using the AUX switch. The car is from Germany so it's an ESi model. And came equipped with a security system that electronically opens the circuit to the fuel pump when armed. It's a serpi star security system. The previous owner had his own local mechanic do a cai install which was shoddy at best. He forgot to reconnect the VTEC solenoid so I used the check engine light as more reason for a price drop. So idk what else this mechanic has done to this car. But I noticed that neither headlight connectors have a ground wire. And the connectors have been rearranged where the low beam wire is connected where it should be on the bulb and the high beam is connected to the top where the ground usually goes. Following the chiltons schematic I only find the grounds missing. All the wires to the aux switch are as they should be also. So electronic guys what do you have to put in on this???
sorry should've made it clear. It is the AUX lights. Not aftermarket. They are OEM genuine Honda parts that have always been on the car. But the wiring is just messed up. No ground wires attached to the bulbs at all but they come on. I'm assuming the brights don't work because there's no ground to complete the circuit to the brights. I just haven't had time to test it yet.
