99, fuel gauge and solenoid questions
Guys, have no experience with automatics, I swapped in a new JDM engine into a coupe that had been sitting up for seven years with a locked up motor. As it was going back in I broke off the electrical connection on the end, front side, of a solenoid looking thing on the end of the tranny. It is round , about the size of a D cell battery and is attached to a flat plate with 4 bolts. What is it and what does it do. Could I drive the car a short distance to check out the car. I am pretty sure I will need to find a replacement at the local salvage yard.....thanks....
Guys, trying to resurrect a long time sitting clunker. Swapped in new motor ......but fuel pump was bad. Smelled like soured gas when I pulled old fuel pump and put in a new one. Engine fired right up and tank is almost full but gauge is showing dead empty. How does that work, is there something in the tank gunked up, that is plugged or stuck.....thanks

Thanks Ron J, the car is a 99 Coupe, EX. Will take a bit for me to post a pix. I looked at an auto for a 95 model and it does not have that solenoid in that same location. It is right under the forward engine mount bar on the passenger side. Appears to be two electrical connection down there.........I busted the upper one.
In changing the pump I did not see a sending unit.....I assume the tank will need to come out to gain access ? I was obvious the car sat up with a full tank of gas as is much gunk in there. It may have to be replaced.
