Default Rest in peace EP3 =(

Hello all, I am gonna be starting a long and painful process of rebuilding my old engine that had died on me at 136,456 miles. Keep in mind I was not the original owner I think I was maybe the 3rd owner. But either way engine had died was suffering from a pretty severe rod knock. SO long story short I had bought a new motor or semi new from Specializing in JDM-USDM Engines & Parts...hmotorsonline.com . So I will rock the new motor stock minus some bolt ons, but I was wondering if I could get some advice and or wisdom for either building up a boosted motor or a supercharged motor. The platform I am building off of is a K20a stock ep3 engine.

Basically I am undecided, do I go turbo snail or do I go super charger please help all advice is welcome.

I have had a turbo car in the past and a supercharger car, although it was an aftermarket supercharged v8. I think for daily driving the supercharger is a better option for it's instant response and added torque, along with the roots style kits being self-contained and easier to maintain then a turbo kit with oil lines and many more parts. I think if you are not building the motor(forged parts) and you just want some extra oomph the supercharger kits are great. The main problem is that I don't believe you can buy a jackson racing supercharger kit anymore, I think they stopped making the roots style and I'm not sure they even produce kits for our cars at all anymore. A quick google search shows kits like this Kraftwerks® - Honda Civic Si 2002-2005 Supercharger Race System where you now have to remove a/c and build custom piping, but you now have an intercooler which is better for performance and not able to be done with the old roots style JRSC kits. Either way to be done properly a supercharger or turbo is not a quick and cheap process and you need to spend time researching the question you just asked the information is out there.

Thanks! you pretty much summed up my thoughts. I was already leaning supercharger. I would love a turbo but its just to much modding to be doing to my daily. I feel like I could knock out a supercharger in a couple of weekends, versus turbo i feel like it would be a couple of weeks just to get everything test fitted and mounted. that's not including I would not even be able to drive it with out a base tune in which I am not even sure where dynos are located here in CO.
