Default Alignment on low del sol

My friend and i have both have lowered cars his being a 97 civic and mine being a 97 del sol. My buddy recently got an alignment 2 months ago at a local tire shop, the only problem that they told him was that before they could do the alignment he needed to get front camber kits and that they had them for his car if he wanted to purchase them at that moment but instead he said no. Later that day he went online and bought some for a much better price than what the tire shop had them for he waited for them to arrive and then he went back and then they did the alignment. I need to get and alignment as well because my steering wheel is not straight at all with my wheels. I really don't care about the camber that my wheels have in the front. I just want my car to be aligned straight with my wheels again. So my question is do i need to get a camber kit to get my wheels aligned straight with my steering wheel again or are they just trying to get me to spend more money?

I could be wrong but my guess is the steering wheel just wasn't centered last time it was put back on. You probably still need alignment though. If your lower than 2" they are gonna say you need a camber kit. If you don't want one you will wear things out sooner. I have been lowered 3.5" on adjustable Koni's and don't have too much camber. In over a year I have only wore out one cv boot. And it could be 20+ years old for all I know. If it isn't causing problems and your tires wear decent, don't let them pressure you. I've had Toyo's on oem 15's for 10,000+ miles and have quite a bit of even tread left. They can still adjust your alignment, they just don't have as much control as they would have with a camber kit.
