Default 92 civic VX, 5-speed - OBD1 or OBD2 injectors question

I am going from a 1992 D15Z1 motor that is OBD1 to a D16Y8 motor that is OBD2. I have been lookin online for adaptors to go from the original OBD1 harness to the OBD2 injectors that are on the 2000 motor. My question is can I just run OBD1 injectors in the OBD2 motor because the one set of adaptor harnesses said that I will still need to remove the resistor box and modify the harness to run the OBD2 injectors... how is that done or will the OBD1 injectors work in the OBD2 motor and skip getting the adaptors.. any suggestions ... thanks

The car is a 1992 civic VX with the 15 motor and manual tranny... new motor and tranny came out of a 2000 civic ex and it is a 16 with a manual tranny. I picked up a wire harness out of a 95 civic ex,, I read somewhere that it will be a little more plug and play friendly when doing the swap... do you have any suggestions thanks

You were correct that it's just plug n play. You'll need to remove the plugs from your Z1 distributor and pin your Y8 distributor to fit it, run your Z1 fuel rail & injectors, then run everything else from the Y8 engine. You'll also need to chip your ECU or run a P28.

thanks for the plug and play backup,,, I forgot to tell you that the 2000 Y8 motor still had the distributor in it and it is still in time,,, would I be better off getting on ebay and buying one of the obd1 to obd2 distributor adaptor harness for the 8 prong setup,,, what are your thoughts on keeping the altenator from the original motor so there wont be any adaptor issues with that... 100% on the ECU I will be getting a P28- A02 for the manual tranny.... thanks again for coaching me on this swap you have been very helpfull.... not sure how you feel about it but is there any way I could get your contact number for future help...I promise not to bug the crap out of you and will keep the common sense issues to a minimum....Jeff

You can't use the obd2 distributor because it doesn't provide a tach.

OBD2B you mean right?

Also aren't the Y8 injectors the 240cc version vs the 190cc the OP has currently?

If you want to make it really easy get an engine harness from a '96 - '99 Integra, it plugs into the engine and the shock tower plugs. You'll just have to add the wiring for Vtec and Knock if using a non-vtec harness and swap the distributor for '96 - '98 Y7/Y8.

Failing that:

You can use a set of injectors from any '92 - '95 Civic or Integra, except Civic CX/VX, they're only 180 or 190CC, all the rest are 240CC

Use a D15B7/D15B8 distributor

Reuse the original alternator.

Perform VX O2 sensor fix:

You'll also need to place the OBD1 intake air temp sensor in the intake arm or use an obd1 intake manifold that uses that style IAT.

source a used d15b7 distributor. its obd-1, and fits the y8. no need to hack at things or use conversion harnesses
