I start my tuning adventure tomorrow. Quick question
So I'm getting an Ostrich 1.0 and Hulog tomorrow. I'll be using Crome free for now. This will be going in an EG hatch w/
d16 block
y8 head
z6 cam w/adjustable gear
I don't have a wideband yet but I'd like to get everything hooked up and checked out.
Will I be safe running the P28 basemap that comes with crome until I get my wideband?
I'm going to use the P70 base map with the fuel/ignition maps from the P28 copied over

I dont think anybody can answer if you'll be safe running it with that map. It's best to wait for the wideband and hook everything up at one time and make adjustments. It's not like you can do any tuning without a wideband atm. I'll say you can try to start with the stock p28 map in Crome once you have everything hook up. Start with adjusting your afr first and dont touch ignition timing untill you get the feels for adjusting fuel first.
If your motor is built or boosted and your still going diy route and it's your first time tuning, then it's best to get a reputable shop like Moates.net or Xenocron.com to get you started with a basemap as they probably tuned similar setups as yours. Then you learn from there. There's a lot of free basemaps out there floating around that'll blow your **** up. I've seen plenty.
Anyways here's some informative info I put together when I first started to learn. Read it. You can get some pointers and tips on tuning, but tune at your own risk. GL

The motor is stock right now. I wanted to learn some tuning basics on the stock motor while Im finishing up my turbo kit.
I'm going to wait til I get the wideband until I set everything up. Patience is not one of my strong points

Get a wideband before you do anything else.
Crome free ain't great. You can probably find crome pro online. Or eCtune. Way better.
But you need a wideband.

I'm just going to use Crome Free to see if I like it or not. I think I downloaded ectune too. Gonna play with both and see which one I like better.
