hey everyone reading this, I have a 2000 lude which I recently replaced the ball joint in upper front as they were getting sloppy... I didn't press them out as some say you need to. I've also heard I these forums and others that you must replace whole upper control arm, well that's not true either, but I don't have a shop press and wasn't willing to pay a shop 100$ to press out and in me new ball joints I already purchased awhile back. Anyhow what I did was hammer out old , and hammer in new, made sure they went in 100% straight, with no issues, but after driving a few hundred km (I'm Canadian) I visually inspected both and the passenger side ball joint has somehow come up about a mm in the control arm, has this ever happened to anyone? Why would it do this? I tack welded it in hopes that would just hold it in place but that broke free too.
And yes everything was properly torqued to spec. As that's the first thing I thought is maybe the castle nut was not properly torqued, it is and is pinned too.
