Default 1996 D16Y8 Del Sol intake questions

One of my friends suggested I buy a short ram intake for my car, even though Its just stock, and I would get a slight increase in gas milage and horsepower. Plus it seems very easy to install.

I'm just trying to get the most out of my engine right now, while staying on a budget.

Gotta redo the timing belt very soon too.

So what's the question? Your friends claims are true.

But do the timing belt first

Aftermarket Intakes will decrease the value/sellablity of your car later on. A stock oem car will usually sell for more, unless Chip Foose modified it.

Hmm I don't think a CAI or SRI will hurt the value on any 20 yr old car. Selling or trading these cars to a dealer is a joke.

As a private buyer, if I see that ****, I'm like no ******* thanks. Quality used car lots are the same way. **** I worked for one, and there was a civic with a factory wing on it, and the lot owner wouldn't buy it. Crap intakes are just a red flag to this idiot tried to modify his car, doesn't know ****, and beat the hell out of it.

But if it is a POS beater that already looks like garage, who cares. Probably could invest the money into better things though. Why put money into a POS?

Definitely will do it first, just do a lot of driving. Trying to get the most out of my car without beating the hell out of it. Not planning on ever selling it anyway lol. Some were saying that a SRI wouldn't do anything on a stock motor. That was my original question

Well to answer that you don't it's really nothing you're gonna feel but if your In tune to your car, you'll notice some things. And these "things" are the reason I say it's better to have one then not. Unless you have no plans on building your car.

I noticed better mpg, smoother revving, next gear catch is at least 500 rpm higher, but this is most noticeable accompanied with a header and full exhaust.

Just get a cheap eBay intake pipe and swap it with a k&n or aem filter. Not much you could really do better for under 100 IMO.

This all depends on the area, if you live in a area where Hondas are rather popular, in high demand, this is all bias. A car with eBay lowering springs, tuna can fenders, and BBS reps will go for 3000-3500 all day where I am just depends if it's a hatch coupe or sedan.

Privately of course but the scene is active out here and that changes alot of what you said. When you have car clubs, lots of local meets involving hondas it really differs they become higher in demand modified or not.

Why? because enthusiasts.
