Default Almost deja vu (WTF!)

So a few days ago I went to get into my Prelude, and the driver's side door handle wouldn't work. No big deal, that kind of thing isn't out of the question for an 8 year old car. So I had it in the shop today, and they inform me that the reason why the door handle won't work is because somebody tried to steal the car, and broke the internal mechanism with a slim jim. Unlike the CRX, this time they weren't successful, but what the #$@%?!? That's twice now in 5 months, with different cars! It's like, why bother getting a nice car?!? Some ******* is just going to come along and try to steal it from you....

Sorry, had to vent.

Why does this happen to Matt? I truly wish there was something we could do, that sucks.

If it makes you feel any better, I'll be spending this Sunday rewiring Mom's stock 95 GS-R to fix the following...

- install replacement ECU and wiring harness
- re-wir parking lights
- install seats
- replace rear quarter window

I love Hondas, most of the time. But there are times like this that I truly hate them.

OK, back to crashing trucks...

hey Matt!

sorry to hear about the attempted theft.

just hope you have the new Hybrid in a really safe place. THAT is the kind of car that the thieves would be killing each other over to steal/strip.

you should lock that **** up somewhere safe (like in your dad's garage)

Todd

PS fix that VTEC miss yet???

Yup, that is the reason I drive disposable vehicles. No payments, low repair bills, and who the f*ck is gonna steal an '89 Caprice.

Will-who sometimes leaves the windows down on the Volvo....

Or move to Culpeper.

I sometimes leave my windows down with the keys in it, on main street for 3 days straight, only to find some old lady standing beside it saying "sonny it is supposed to rain today, I was just about to put your windows up for you."

Matt,

Years ago I had two cars broken into and stereos stolen and I had my house burglarized twice all in a period of 6 years. I took me a while to realize there was only one solution - move. Since moving I have lived 10 years without an incident. I noticed the other day that I had left my front door unlocked for about two weeks by mistake

My advice - find a better place to live.

The Civic has multiple theft prevention measures. I'm not going into detail on the internet, but it is much safer than the CRX was, or even the Prelude.

Diagnose? We think so. Fix? Not yet, I'm going to try on Saturday. We're just going to pull the Field VTEC controller out and see how it runs. I've also replaced the spark plugs and am going to replace the cap and rotor.

Actually my neighboorhood hasn't had a crime in it's 29 year history. The CRX was stolen from the shop that did the work on it (about 45 minutes from where I live). I'm not sure where the attempt on stealing the Prelude took place, but I'm confident that it wasn't at my house.

I think Corey alone has boosted the resale value of my Prelude by at least $1k! Everybody wants it, and 99% of the people here have never even seen it. It will be VERY tough for me to sell that thing though. There are a lot of emotional ties with that car.

Sell?!?!?! I said GIVE fool. Don't worry about the emotional ties you can come down and sit in the driver seat whenever you want, just don't cry. If you cry I'll have to have those 3rd graders Todd's talkin about come and kick your sissy ****.

Uhm... if corey was doing what he did in that prelude in a '84 accord, everyone would want one of those too... it aint the car.

I thought i was the only one? Besides, i asked first... right?

You NEED to paint it nasty 12 year old baby BLUE, kink the hood and fender, touch up the kink and rust with SILVER spray paint and leave the bumpers faded.

"Even thieves have taste, NOBODY wants this car, hell I don't even like knowing you still own it"..........My wonderful wife of now 6 years...
