Default bought a civic turbo. having problems. please help!

hey guys i just sighed up today. i bought a civic hatch d16 turbo last night. drove it for about an hour. when i got out of it i left the motor running and i heard a tap from under the valve cover. the guy said he just built the car 1500 miles ago. all new bottom end and all. the engine seems to miss when i get into higher rpms. my friend says its leaning out. how would i fix that.? then today i hit it a little too hard driving it home and all of a sudden i lost my boost. i feel like im a little over my head but if i could get some guidence i think i can manage. iv owned turbo deisels before but never a turbo gas car. so if anyone could help i would be forever in your debt

Thanks guys.
-Doc

can you return the car and get your money back?

Asking to get his money back? Nah..It's called an "as is" sale unless he had a contract specifically stating a warranty is available. Otherwise it defaults to "as is" status.

Caring for a turbo diesel has little difference to that of a turbo gasoline one. Maintaining them is about the same

Check for boost leaks, probably blew a boost hose off if you don't think the motor is blown.

Also. On the turbo going out. I removed the air cleaner and felt for play in the shaft. It was like new. Looked for turbo hoses that may be disconnected and I couldn't find any

Those boxes are not going to help you identify your problem.

It sounds like you lost compression.

Either popped a boost hose or blew your motor.

It runs as if it was a stock non turbo. Is there somewhere specific I should look for a blown hose? Because I looked and there didn't seem to be any disconnectex

if the car sounds and runs fine, then you blew a charge pipe (intake pipe inbetween turbo and intake manifold)

it should be very obvious.... text the guy you bought it from. if hes close, maybe he can help you, but its a common thing.
