2000 Honda Civic Si b16a2 question
Hello guys and galls, a buddy of mine is having trouble with his 00 si that he just put a motor in. He states that vtec kicks in at 5200 rpm but not 2500 rpm. He also states that it feels "sluggish"between 1500-3000 rpm, says its because vtec is not kicking in at 2500 rpm. Is it supposed to kick in at 2500 & 5200 rpm, or not? If so, what are some things we can check to fix the issue? Thanks!
No, VTEC only engages at 5400 rpm on the B16A2... not at 2500. The likely cause of the sluggishness between 1500 and 3000 is a faulty IACV or plugged air pathway leading to it.
Ahh ok. He thought vtec also engaged at 2500 rpm. I thought the only way for that to be possible is some kind of chip or tune. I will have to check and see what i can come up with. Thanks!
