ITR Steering Wheel+Column in EG?
To my fellow honda tech members, I'm in search of answers..
After extensive research, I've learned quite a bit about swapping OEM steering wheels into EG civics. I have a 92 CX, and I'm looking to install a 98-00 ITR Steering wheel. But, the steering wheel I have found is attatched to a ITR Steering column. Still has the oem key for the ignition switch, the whole 9 yards. Versus taking the steering wheel off of that column, My question is.. Will a ITR steering column work in an EG? If so or if not, what modifications or interchanging am I looking to have to do?
Thanks!

IIRC the Civic and Integra columns are the same other than the CX/VX column (IE the one you have) is a non tilt column so the bottom half of the plastic pieces that go around the column immediately following the wheel wont fit.
Unless you're wanting to swap the column to get tilt I wouldn't bother changing the column though, it's easier to swap the wheel itself.

Right, my hatch already has a "tilt" column, so I don't neccessarily have a reason too. Besides from what I understand, it's a pain in the a**. The steering wheel/steering column combo is at a decent price, so I'll order it and have an extra steering column lol. Plus it still has the oem key with the ignition switch so that's pretty cool...
Its not really a pain...just time consuming and have to be careful because you could strip the bolt that holds the joint to the column and the rack/pinion. The only way you'll know its a pain is if you've ever replaced one.
Well I'd assumed it would be a pain. I have quite litterally done EVERYTHING else, versus replace, swap steering wheels etc. A good friend of mine just put a EK steering column in his EG for a S2K steering wheel, he said the process itself wasnt bad at all. But henceforth tiered nothing wrong with the column I have, so I'll swap steering wheels and keep the ITR one for a spare or something lol. Or I'll be like the cool kids and swap ignition switches since the one on the ITR column has the original key lmao😂😎

The Integra column will work in the EG, but there is one minor difference that could **** you off in the long run. The clocking off the splines between the one end and the other are a half-tooth off relative to the EG column. This means no matter how you put everything back together, you will NOT be able to get the steering wheel "perfectly" centered lock-to-lock. This is not a problem for most people who will just go get an alignment where they will simply set toe so wheel "appears" straight. The problem with this is you will end up more lock on one side than the other and uneven bump-steer (cause one tie-rod is longer than the other). This is not a huge deal to some people, but it was to me (OCD perfectionist). Especially after putting forth tons of time & effort perfectly centering a Quaife rack & pinion setup.
I ended up switching to an aftermarket 6-bolt steering wheel (like mugen or momo). Doing this allowed me to mount the hub adapter (I used HKB) upside down. The odd number of splines vs the even number of bolts gives the half-tooth clocking I needed to make the wheel perfectly centered again.....thus making me smile. I am sad I cannot go back to my OEM airbag steering wheel, but oh well.
Also adding the tilt feature to your stock column is easy. Just use a dremel to cut out the pattern marked inside the lower column cover. Take your time and it will look just like an OEM tilt-column cover.

PS: When re-assembling everything, make sure to get the ignition switch assembly bolted back up nice & straight. If you don't, your steering column covers will go back on crooked, and your steering wheel will always look crooked.
And ignition switch, I'll make sure everything goes back as close to perfect if not perfect, I try my best to make sure everything appears and functions 100% lol.
