Default 1992 Honda Accord temperature gauge wire issue

Hello recently I swapped a motor from my 90 accord ex into my 92 accord ex, the temperature gauge worked before I did this in my 90 accord now since its been in the 92 accord it doesn't move at all, I know with the 90 accord it had a wire harness that had 7 wires which 5 matched up to the 92 motor wire harness. Now my question is one wire that didn't match up was a red wire which is the same colour as the sensor plug wire, would this be the same wire? I had to cut the harness off one to match it to the other. If this is the same wire where can I connect it to get my gauge working again? I've already changed the sensor and tried grounding the plug to see if the gauge moved all the way to hot but it didn't. Any help would be great on this issue.
