97 Civic with D16Y7 engine wont start
Left my neighborhood a couple weeks ago and i quite on me
replaced the dizzy thinkin that was it
found out it wasnt turnin
realized the cam had broke in half
replaced it and it still wasn't runnin right so i pulled the head and it had 2 bent valves
replaced um put it back together and it still wasn't runnin right so for ***** and giggles i pulled the exhaust manifold back off sure enough it ran like a charm
so iv bought a header to get rid of the clogged cat
put it on and now it wont start so im guessing i unhooked something or theres a code of some sort that needs to be cleared im not sure

How did you check for spark? In all 4 cylinders? How did you determine quality of spark?

The engine doesn't need to run for the ECU to throw codes. Check for codes.

For what it's worth, I was mystified for over a month as to why my Civic wasn't starting. Confirmed spark on all 4 cylinders, confirmed injectors were spraying a nice plume of fuel (took the whole rail off and cranked the car), confirmed compression was good, confirmed timing was dead on, no CEL...turned out the spark plugs were fouled. Outside the car they had spark (orange spark, not great) but once installed the compression and/or massive amounts of fuel was enough to blow out the spark. Changed plugs and it ran like a champ. Got a different chipped ECU to put my chip in and that fixed the running rich condition that led to the plugs fouling.
Just goes to show you that sometimes even when everything SEEMS good, sometimes it's just not QUITE good enough to run the car. If your plugs are black, you may have too much fuel getting in, which also could have caused your catalytic convertor to melt.
