Depends on how good of a "buddy" he is.
If it was a good friend, I'd tell him to come lend a hand and it would be free.

If not such a good friend tell him about 300-400
well how good are you at swaps?
A) I know peps that have done it like 10 times and could do a bseries swap into a EG in about 3 hours tops from start to starting up the new motor.
B)then there are peps that know what their doing but just not a pro at it and will take like 6-8 hours or even MORE!!!
------
if you are (A) then you should be a nice guy and drop the price down alittle. i'd say $200 & have him buy the food,
, smokes and more
Also help out the newbi hybird. Be glad that he's asking you for help on a swap... rather than asking you to help with some STREET GLOW KIT.. hahah
Peps who are newbie to swap must want to learn a thing or two that's why they asked a friend; someone who will do the swap, teach him as he goes along, and answer any questions he might have. If he was a ricer then he would of just gave a crap load of money for some SHOP to do it.
if you are (B) than ask for atleast $450. ..........And charge more if his has is just just sitting there not helping out or not even paying attention.
your call though. help him out... maybe he'll returne the favor in the futcher.

im gonna tell him to pay me 200 bucks and ill make him my bitch for the weekend and by the end of the weekend he will have some experience on his own damn car

im not a pro at swaps but i did my first swap in about 4-5 hours the hardest part was getting started pulling the d15b8 then the b16a went in in about 1 hour and it was running about 45 minutes after that i had a problem with the ground wire on the trans ( i forgot to put it on) i couldnt figure out what was wrong so i went through my parts and realized i never put the grounds on the motor lol ahh the memories. but putting a b18c1 into a cx isnt gonna take that long but since im gonna try to teach him a few things im gonna make it a weekend project.
he is paying me 200 bucks up front( my time) and 25 dollars per day (for car storage and garage use) then he will pay me for fluids and misc things that need to be replaced, and he is gonna buy lunchs and dinners+he will gain knowledge about his car
so over all he will be getting a deal i think
