Yep. Still good.

Here's a small clip of the sleeving process so you can see how much material is removed before sleeves are pressed into the block.

Yeah, for MID types, and even some of the "hybrids" where they cut about half of the support out.
Need the top of support for Darton dry sleeves tho.

As long as the crack does not extend below the floor of the water jacket, Darton MID sleeves will work. I've sleeved dozens of blocks like yours.

i always wanted a golden eagle sleeve block myself but i sent this same picture to golden eagle and the representative refuse to sleeve the block because it looks like its cracked down to the bottom. he said that it might interfere with there warranty, that i'll be throwing money away if they sleeve it and start forming leaks and that i should find a good block for them to sleeve.

So with that being said i posted here to get some feedback from members that had there blocks sleeved from a crack sleeve like this or worse because i really want to sleeve my b18 block without the headaches

That's strange because they cut the sleeve anyways. Mine had a similar crack as well, if you can bring your block to a local machinist and have them evaluate if it can be resleeved.

Exactly, the sleeve is almost completely removed when they perform this process. I've had 2 blocks sleeved at GE in much worse condition than what you've shown..

But, it's always nice to check with a machine shop before investing in this

do you have a picture of the bare block? therefore we can get a better look as to how far that crack goes.

Thats what i thought too, thinking that ge should be able to sleeve this block with no problem. But thats what the ge rep told me. He didnt ask for better pictures he just saw that one pic and refused to do it.

I had the opportunity to speak to dan benson. He didnt even look at the picture he basically said he can fix any block. and guarantee it. he says he gets his sleeve custom made to his specs by darton and said sleeve brand in not an issue, its the person installing it is the difference. that was the kind of response i was expecting from ge but benson didnt refuse my block so its going there. Its lil more expensive than a ge but when you talk to this guy he doesnt play any games, he gets straight to the point, tells you exactly what you need to know in detail. Hes very reassuring in that "im not throwing my $ away".

heres a pic of the crack from the bottom

Justycredible had opposite luck with these ERL Benson blocks, which is why he went GE.

I'd and more photos to GE. Forget whether or not they officially ASKED for more photos.
