Default 94 Civic Ex - Tranny popping

I've got a 94 Civic Ex. I parked it a couple of weeks ago when I started hearing a popping that I thought was coming from the cv axle. Replaced the cv axle on the passenger side. Still doing it. Its a really loud and constant popping when the wheels are rotating. Anyone know what it could be? Thanks.

So its making a popping noise when you drive straight? Sounds like they may be possibly binding or your wheel bearing is bad but ive never heard of a wheel bearing "popping" when bad though. put it on jacks and try to just spin the tires with your hands to dial in on the sound. thats my 2 cents

When I change the cv axle I had it on jack stands, put in gear and it was still doing it. It sounds like it's either coming from the tranny or cv axle, changed the passenger cv axle, I'd rather not change the driver side if it's a tranny issue and not the cv axle.

Auto or manual trans?

Get an engine stethoscope and pinpoint the noise with the front end on stands.

Manual trans, if I used a stethoscope I'd probably go deaf, it's a very loud popping

Choose whatever method you like to pinpoint the noise, but that's what's needed to identify the cause.

I know it's definitely either the cv axle on the driver or something in the trans. When we had it jacked up, only the passenger side wheel was rotating when I gave it gas. I was told that's the way it's supposed to be, positive traction. So, with that being said, it seems to me that it's something in the trans once the driver side isn't supposed to turn with out traction. Just wondering if anybody has had this problem and could tell me what it is. I don't have the time or money because of work and kids to tear stuff down that doesn't need to be tore down or replace things that don't need to be replaced. But if I have to, then so be it.

Members can't tell you with any confidence what the problem is because they are not there to inspect the problem.

I've suggested how you can pinpoint the problem. If you won't take advice, then proceed how you see fit.

It's not tuned for drag, so I'm gonna say natural.

I once had a bad input shaft bearing that made a terrible noise when i let off on the clutch pedal. I thought i had a rod knock it was so loud. But i pinpointed the issue and changed out the bearing. the sound was coming from where the engine mates up with the transmission. but without knowing this is purely a guess or something you can read and exclude as the problem. the input shaft bearing is a common problem with the y8 transmisson
