hello guys, i have a 2000 ek with b16 swap. I recently pulled the motor out rebuilt it and put it back in. Started up amazing after the rebuilt. Made sure if everything was ok, no codes. So later I took it to a shop to get my exhaust put on and on the way there I was having some fun lol. When I got close to the lights, put my clutch in and realized my car turned off. I had to hit the gas a couple times for it to start back up and even if it does starts shuts of right away. Until I keep on giving it gas runs fine after while I driving. It also jerks at low gear and high rpm. Please and tank you

 

So basically you are saying it will run if you keep pressing the gas, but it won't idle. The first thing to check there is your IACV. Make sure all the engine harness plugs are plugged into the proper things by checking the wire colors. The 2P plugs are all the same and you can mis-plug them.

 

Post the CEL codes.

its a 2000 civic ek no codes besides the 2nd o2 sensor. Also it the car started this morning and I highly think its the spark plugs and the wires. I am gonna go today to grab some new plugs and hope for the best.

 

So it says EK on the VIN number?

 

Where were EKs marketed? Only Asia? Or also Europe?

I'm sure it's your iacv. But a code throwing for your downstream O2 sensor isn't no codes! The sensor tells the ECU what's going on after the cat. With the car running fine after its warm probably is both sensor and valve. You can use a multi meter to test resistance in valve. Just replace the O2 sensor

OP, are your thermostat or transmission ground wires loose at all?

 

sorry guys been busy wit work. Ok so checked engine light and i did get the code p1508 for IACV malfunction. Also checked my timing and it jumped three tooth.

 

ah. the mistake was assuming the work was done correctly. wot+improper tension= you lose.
