B16 S4C Questions
I am waiting on the synchro tech carbon master rebuild kit for my S4C trans. My question is, how would one go about swapping the S4C I have to an LSD format. I have seen some people talking about replacing the FD to 4.7 from 4.4 with appropriate counter shaft as well as other different confusing strategies. I am not transmission inclined and I will be having a trans shop do the rebuild for me I just want to know if it's do-able or if I am pissing into the wind. I prefer not to buy a type r trans due to the steep gear ratio and this is a somewhat daily driven car.
Keep the 4.4FD, the 4.7FD and B16 final 5th gear will not be hwy friendly. I have a 98 spec JDM type r trans in my Integra. You don't need to replace the FD (Final Drive) to install an LSD, check out Mfactory's gear calculators to see how gearing impacts your RPM's vs MPH.

If you want an LSD, PM me to order an MFactory LSD. Or you can use an OEM ITR LSD if you change to a B18C FD (4.4 or 4.7 does not matter). B16 gearing is the same as the USDM ITR and pre 98 JDM/Euro ITR.
to clarify. Your stock B16 transmission will not accept an ITR LSD out of the box. The ITR and GSR used a 4.4 final drive. Your B16's final drive is also 4.4 but the actual GEAR isn't the same. honda made two of the same pitch, go figure, but the center hole in the gear isnt the same. So if you want an ITR/CTR LSD, get the differential WITH the final drive gear because it wont fit in a stock b16 transmission.
