Default 97 Civic head piece fell in oil gallery engine block

What's up you guys

A piece of the head fell off when we took the head cover off, probably from prior being over torqued,

The piece of the head ended up falling through the right bottom corner of the head, then we took off the head, and it fell through the engine block in the oil gallery on the bottom right. Made a tiny hollow click noise when it fell, I'm hoping that's the oil pan.

Big headache now. Where does that hole lead to? Would it have fallen into the oil pan?

Please help.

Thank you.

Bottom right hole unable to see in photo, but it's right at the corner.

Oil gallery, that weird shaped hole on the engine block bottom right corner. Piece of the broken head fell in there .

That is the oil return of the block/head.

If you don't see the piece in either the hole in the head or the hole in the block then it should be resting in the bottom of the oil pan.

x3 I believe that leads straight to the pan.

I had something similar happen to a GSR I was tearing down. Either get yourself a extendable magnet or most the time it will end up in the oil pan

The magnet won't do much good for the piece that broke off, it's aluminum alloy so shouldn't be magnetic.

Didn't think too hard about that lol. Let me rephrase that... When I dropped a bolt in mine I grabbed it with a magnet haha
