hello everyone

i'v been using vht and por15 manifold paints, and i didn't like the vht much, it had particles in the paint and change color when heats up, but the por 15 is awesome, but very expansive.
any of you guys can recommend a cheaper alternative?

I went to a local Fireplace and Wood Stove store near me and bought paint in a rattle can. Holds up great even on the turbo. It also comes in a few different colors.

This is the stuff I bought,

High Heat Fireplace and Stove Paint Primer Metallic Red

 

how many coats of that POR15? I had my buddy do my last manifold and it didnt take long at all for it to flake off.

 

I also used high temp grill paint. Black works real good for me and has held up for the last 3 months of usage everyday.

 

I've never used the POR15 for exhaust, just undercoating but I've had really good luck with the VHT in the past. It will change colors slightly after a heat cycle or two as the paint is curing. I've found it really works the best if you pre-cook the parts in an oven first before putting on the vehicle. When it's installed follow the break in procedure on the can. Mine has held up for about 5 years and looks pretty good considering (I always use the black).

 

I've never found any paint that will last short of proper ceramic coatings.
