Strange question.....if you are replacing the clutch, the trans will come out the bottom.

Now if there is more going on I like to know.

My advise, spend 22~27 dollars on a service manual from www "automanualsource" (dot) com

Then take your time and do it right...new flywheel, take care of/inspect the rear main seal....ect.

Transmission is going to come out the bottom. You will need to drain the transmission gear oil, remove axles, mounts, clutch cable, wiring, and place a jack under the engine. You will need to tilt the whole assembly downward which will allow you to remove the transmission. As someone mentioned above purchasing a shop manual wouldnt be a bad idea, its good to use as a reference down the road anyways. Otherwise you can search online for the directions.

You need to drop the sub frame down on these as well.

As others said, the transmission comes out of the bottom. There is no need to pull the motor to do a clutch on these cars. Just have something like an engine hoist holding the motor from the top.
