95 Civic EX automatic -- Transmission leak?
Hello everyone, I am new here. Just purchased a 1995 Civic EX automatic for my girlfriend. Is her first vehicle, and the car is a beauty. 89k original miles, from california so it has essentially no rust, which in upstate NY is a rare find considering its 21 years old. Anyways... car runs pretty much great other than a noisy muffler and pulls a little to the right.
So here comes the fun. We were running errands friday, and while pulling into a parking spot, instead of hitting the brake, she accidentally hit the gas. and NAILED one of those cement curb things... Cracked a piece of aluminum off the transmission where the two halves of the case bolt together. Nothing was leaking at first so we brought it home. Then I saw some tranny fluid collecting.. I assumed it was because the bolt no longer has any clamping force and its coming from the gasket. So I cobbled together some cold weld and found a longer bolt with a washer and nut, and very impressively fixed it between yesterday and today. Also drained the transmission and got Honda ATF as it looked extremely old and dirty. I truly thought I fixed the issue. However after a test drive, it is still leaking, but from somewhere else. I cannot pinpoint the leak, but I think it is coming from futher back, and higher up on the transmission. Out of my view. Honestly I think thats where it was leaking the whole time. And just running down the case. So at this point, I am going to bring it to an indepedent shop my friends family owns, he's good at what he does. I have absolutely no idea what is leaking now, could be something minor and easy, or could be major. If it needs a new transmission, I will be attempting it myself. I have never replaced a transmission, but am rather car savvy and have most of the tools and pretty decent knowledge of what to do. Any input would be greatly appreciated, oh and can anyone tell me which transmission the car has? And which transmissions are 100% compatible.. Bolt in ready? Much appreciated.

Nope, it's tranny fluid. I found the leak.... where the tranny mount is, the one next to the dipstick, has a huge crack. That perfectly would be the cause of the fluid running down the back side. Guess the force of the impact cracked the transmission case at the mount. Mixed up a bunch of cold weld and fingered it into everything the best I could. Guess we'll see how that turns out in 24 hours...
