GSR swap in eg hatch
Hello,
I've seem to run across a problem installing my GSR trans and engine in my 1994 honda civic cx. I ordered all the mounts, linkage, axles etc. and everything lines up and was installed correcting (no jiggyrigging). When the engine was first put in the mounts aligned properly but when I took a step back, the engine was wayyyy above the hood line. What did I do wrong? PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks in advance,
Pete

It is normal for the top of the engine to stick up farther than the fenders do. This is why the hood has a raised center panel. Your mount choice may be contributing to this issue, and the combination may require some trimming of the hood webbing. Remember that the block is over 5mm taller than the 1.5L block and the DOHC cylinder head is significantly taller than the SOHC cylinder head.

There is no legitimate reason why two cars with the exact same parts would be different... which means that either something IS in fact different with respect to the parts, or your chassis has been damaged and repaired and the frame rails are higher in the chassis than your friends car. You could use some longer bolts and washers to space the engine down if clearance is needed to clear the hood, but this also moves the oil pan closer to the ground and increases your chances of damage while driving.
