Default B1801 my new build motor. BTW can anyone tell me how to remove this damn gear

Here's the motor I will be building with a Silver Surfer turbo from STC

I'm stumped as to how to remove this gear so I can take off the oil pump and in turn take the crank out.

I feel like this is the key to removing it, but I don't know how.

It slides right off

Might be seized.

Ive never dealt with a seized one

Try soaking it in wd40

Or a little heat on the gear

Tap it with a hammer to knock it loose

Do you pry between the oil pump and large gear?

Just put a huge screw driver behind the large wheel and hit it with a rubber mallet. Damn thing isn't moving a budge. I also sprayed some liquid wrench behind it. I feel I'm doing something wrong here...

You arent thats gear should slide on and off the crankshaft

The crank pulley keeps it in place

Add some heat to it

This bolt does follow the traditional left loosey rule, right????

Update: Just broke a gear off the larger gear you see on the back.

Slide right off... my luck

ETA is it's still not budged past that one part that went flying across the garage.

What are you using exactly to heat up the gear?

A torch

At this point I'd like to use some plastic explosive

True story. The gear should come off just like the harmonic balancer.

So you place a large screw driver between the large gear and oil pump and just like that it comes off? Yea...no

Put a light tap on the woodruff key with a punch. Maybe that's wedging it in place like a keystone in a bridge.

yes. actually, they're supposed to just slide off by hand, shouldnt even need to use a prybar or screwdriver. things rust though, and they stick sometimes. just keep soaking it in penetrating oil

good idea^.
and because the gear is already broken now, I'd suggest taking a metal hammer and tapping the gear all over the place too to break up the rust. it should slide off eventually. then grab another gear from the guy above

x2 on this. gear should slide off. I have had issues installing/removing one, and the woodruff key was to blame.
