No Crank/No start-Daily driver please help!
Getting very frustrated trying to track this intermittent problem with my daily.
1995 GSR-JDM B18C/S80 HLSD tranny.
Periodically and as of late I would say frequently I am getting a single click but not attempt to crank when going to start the car. When the key is turned to on, my dash lights come on as normal and all accessories work, I can hear the fuel pump prime itself as usual, but when turned to the START position I get a click and no crank. This does not happen all the time, and it seems to be more prevelant when the engine is hot vs cold starts. Also, the vehicle will easily start by rolling and popping the clutch when the no start issue happens, and it seems that if I rapidly turn from ON to Start positions several times this will allow it to then start the car. I was initially thinking a bad relay or IGN switch, but as I said above all dash lights come on fine when in ON position, fuel pump primes as it should, and when I switch to START position the dash lights dim a bit and I get a single click and then nothing. Before I go replacing things that may or may not be at fault, has anyone had this same situation before and if so what was the solution? Any help would be appreciated as this is the vehicle i drive daily and I am worried about becoming stranded somewhere if it decides to not start at all on me at some point. Thank you in advance!

that would be a bad starter. or atleast it on its last legs. next time it happens pop the hood and give the starter a solid couple whacks and it shoulld start right up. however, you should replace it now because its going to be completely dead within a week or so
I had a similar issue with my integra. Turned out the starter was literally FALLING OFF! Not sure how, but the previous owner had managed to strip out one of the starter bolts! I tightened it back up with thread locker, and put a bunch of cold steel weld on the stripped bolt and pushed it in place. I actually ended up buying a new battery not much after. Turned out the problem was the battery! Bought the car with 190,000 miles on it, it now has 275,000 miles and STILL RUNNING THE SAME STARTER! XD Also, it never hurts to pull off the ground wire from body to battery and clean it or even replace it! Another thought, when the coils go bad, they fail when they get hot, so you may have 2 problems rather than one!

I had the same problem with mine... and I have a brand new starter from Acura. Turns out the issue was paint on the mounting flange of my ERL engine block... this did not make for a good surface to transmit ground between the transmission case and the block, so the starter was not getting a good ground.
