Default Same VSS issue for almost a year!

I have not clue what is going on but VSS CEL keeps coming on and I cannot figure out how to get it work. I have directly wired 12v, GND, B10 and installed a whole new sensor. Is it getting an error because I am not using the stock dash (or one at all)? Thoughts?

Any way around this or can i install another sensor somewhere else? I have no clue how my tuner was able to tune with it on. He was boosting over 10psi on the dyno but once i get around 4psi it cuts out.

it is 12v since it pules 0-12v based on engine speed.

It's a vss so it would not be based off engine speed...

the service manual shows the VSS sensor with two grounds (G101 & A23) inputs and one input to b10. that doesn't sound right.

this other one shows it going to power

There are just common ground. Do you have the speedometer working at all?

ok but is it power, gnd, signal or just signal and gnd chassis/ computer? Those two different schematics show both.

I use a completely different dash with its own speed sensor off of the front wheels.

What ECU and tuning software? Is there not a setting to disable VSS error codes?

Most sensors have ground, 5 volt reference from the ECU, and a signal back to the ECU. I thought the vss sensor is a magnetic pickup type sensor so it operates like the ones in your distributor. ECU sees sine wave and converts it to digital for processing.. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Does the code come on right away or after you start rolling? If it comes on right away, I would think it's a problem with the circuit. If it comes on after a certain MPH, I would think it's a signal issue.

I wonder if you could some how spin it with a drill with it uninstalled but still plugged in, then watch the signal.

I've seen corrosion at the VSS connector terminals also cause issues. Those look OK?

I think I got it to work. I moved the ground location and now my s dash is reading a speed when I turn the wheel by hand. I will post if it comes back once I get it out for a drive.

You most likely have the pins wrong on the sensor itself

Ground 12v and then signal to ecu

VSS gets a 12 volt reference signal and not 5 volts like most engine sensors?
