Overpressure in Cooling System
Hey guys,
Sorry if this has been addressed before, and if it has a link where the discussion was held would be appreciated. I don't feel like I've had a lot of luck finding an answer so...
I have a 1999 D16y7 DX Sedan, When I drive around the cooling system builds pressure, and after I finish driving the pressure seems to not go anywhere. I relieve the pressure before most drives. The car does not overheat, coolant will leak from the top rad hose at times when there is a lot of pressure and it has been sitting for a while.
Anybody know why this might be happening?
I've heard a lot about the radiator cap and I've used a few while its still had the same issue.
Thanks.

Another thing you could do is rubber band a latex glove to the coolant neck and let it idle. Block tests can be easily compromised when coolant gets into it.
Go mix coolant with the liquid and report back. The purpose is to get exhaust gases from the cooling system, not liquid. That's why it's a hydrocarbon test. When the bubbles pass through the hc mix with the test liquid and changes the color; why would you mix coolant with it? The snap on block tester specifically States not to mix coolant with it.
