Default Omni power replacement tach

Anyone run one of the omni tachs?

My 1989 crx si with 310k miles is finally having its tachometer fail. I dislike extetnal tachs on full interior daily drivers. I figure a junkyard replacement is no better than what i have.

I disagree about the junkyard tach being no better. I think of a tach failure as an isolated event, or is this a common thing on crxs? For the price, it can't hurt to pick one up at the wreckers.

I would need a 1989 cluster. The 90-91 won't work. So 27 years old....its an age thing more than anything else. Finding a crx or civic si from 89 is a long stretch in a yard. Even at low mileage it's old and likely to have quite a bit of weather exposure. I see them at 80 to 120 on eBay. At least that much from a yard. Or 130 for a brand new tach that has a red line at 7500 where i shift.

The 90-91 ef tach from omni will not fit in an 89 due different mounting points.

Won't fit 88 89. However it's stupid easy to install and u can set a shift light plus pick the red portion of rpms on the face. Much more accurate at high rpms
