Weird engine noise after racing....
after racing at the track last time ive noticed this weird nasty sound coming from engine. this is the first time i had turned up the boost from 5.5psi to 8psi. when i get on the gas, it makes this louder nasty tin can sound from about 1.5k to 2.5k rpms. after about 2.5k rpm, it disspears. i hate the way it sounds and i have no clue wat it could be. please help me figure this crap out!!!
its not the heat shield...i yanked that off a year ago when it started rusting and rattling. this is a nasty sound inside of my engine. when i rev it to like 2k...it sounds like a 2 stroke dirt bike or sumthin...then it goes away after 2.5k or so. car still runs fine and strong, besides this noise in the engine...HELP!!!!!!

aight...i finally got a chance to pop the hood and have a look. when i rev it with the throttle cable i can get a good sound. it doesnt disspear like i thought....the car just gets so much louder in boost that i cant hear it anymore inside the car. it sounds like i have a rock in my engine or something when i give it gas. its weird cuz i thought it might be in one of the cylinders so i pulled all spark plug wires off to see if i could single it out to a certain cylinder....no luck. its hard to tell whether its the motor or the turbo....i cant see it being the turbo tho, especially as its only about 4.5 months old and ive only driven it an equivalent of maybe 3 months. HELP!!!!!!
ASE cert. in what? i am in brakes, and prob. couldn't do a worse job diagnosing a detonation problem. i pointed you to the right thing, now get your **** tuned!
naw i didnt run low on oil. i actually just changed it 2 weeks ago right before this happened. as far as my boy, he can do it all...he used to be a certified tech at honda. they sent him through all these classes and workshops to be honda certified as well. he quit cuz it was far away from his house, but now he's going back since he hates his job now. but anyway, we looked at it today and it appears to be a leaky exhaust manifold. i gotta get a torque wrench so i can loosen it and retighten it down to specs. he told me that after a little while after the install, i shouldve went back and checked the nuts, then retightened them down again. ill do it when i get the torque wrench and hopefully this will fix it.
