Broken Intake Manifold PCV Valve
So today I managed to quite possibly rid my Intake Manifold useless by accidentally breaking the PCV valve in half while it was still in the manifold. I was trying to get the vacuum line off as it was ripped and off broke the valve. Can't get it out with pliers, anyone else every been as dumb as I am?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Assuming OP is working on their 93 Del Sol (which, by the way OP, you might want to read the rules and post the required information), doesn't the PCV mount in a grommet that's between two runners on the intake manifold? It doesn't actually go into the manifold, but it mounts on it, I thought...
pcv valve is inserted into a grommeted end of a hose that routes to a snap-in fitting on the breather chamber. OP, if you're very careful, you can extract the broken off section of pcv valve from the grommeted end and simply pop a new pcv in...otherwise, order yourself a new grommet/hose and have a "fun" 30 minute procedure installing it. the grommeted end is of course popped into the hole between the runners as NARC stated.
Yep he's ^ right.
Where the PCV meets the hose in this diagram, is in the outside casting of the intake, and does not go inside that

Amen to that...I had stated it as a 30 minute job...thats 8 minutes of disassembly/extraction,cleaning, prepping your new parts...and 20 minutes of fumbling about getting that grommeted hose in there, and 2 more minutes to pop in the pcv and reattach the breather hose.'S fun ya know?
Luckily you dont have to replace that hose. Small tip, you dont need to really lube the crap out of the pcv nipple or the inside of the hose.. and heres why...any lube you overdo will simply be squeegeed off the parts and will either drip down into the breather box or will ooze out the sides of the hose for the pcv nipple, a minimum of lube will do you better if you put it on the leading lip of the pcv so it applies itself on the way in that hole. itll AT LEAST save you one paper/shop towel or 1 sq. inch of rag from having to clean up after yourself.
