Default S300 V3 vs Demon V2

Hey HT

I know this topic has been discussed many times but I was not sure if there was an updated thread on this, so taking into account the cost of licenses as well as the chipset, which would be the most bang for the buck?

Since the S300 V3 came out, it basically came with all the features the Demon V2 came with before that S300 V2 didn't (i.e. anti-theft).

I know SManager can be downloaded free but Neptune RTP requires that $150 fee (not sure if its annually or one time payment).

The Neptune + Demon combo is about $100 cheaper than a S300v3. The basic core features are identical. The extra features of the S300 may not have any value to you but thats something you need to research. I think Neptune is a better value and easier to learn for a beginner.

biggest advantage of S300 V3 is digital input. You can run a Aim,Motec,Racepak cluster. Can input plx, aem, and innovate wideband digitally with no voltage offsets, 100% accurate reading. can daisy chain up to 8 plx sensor modules digitally with no voltage offsetting. only bad thing is(from my experience), you cant run a AIM cluster and have plx sensor modules inputted digitally at the same time. I asked hondata to resolve this issue but not sure if they've done anything about it.

Neptune has that options as well
ive been using mtx-l digital output with Neptune all the time works great

another advantage of Neptune is that demon board can be used with crome as well

advantage of hondata is user interface is very simple very similar to crome so if you used crome its more familiar I guess

There's an app for Android, "TunerView for Android". iPhone is also in the works.

with the v3 s300 out, i've seen a lot of similar features and functions as neptune

but i know you have to buy that subscription to the neptune software separate from the demon v2 whereas you only have to buy the s300 and download SManager for free

the one thing i do like (from what ive seen on the features on their website) is that neptune has a anti-theft feature that lets you create a combo with the brake and accelerator pedals whereas the s300 lets you create a %tps

It does not need to be purchased separate. A NepTune RTP kit is the Demon hardware bundled with the software license.

Oh thanks for the info, so the software license only needs to be bought when buying a used ecu with a Demon?

s300's is an adjustable tps range, and a set (or disabled) combination of the following switches being on/off: ACS, PSP, SCS, BKSW, VTP. all of the above must be within the preset parameters when the ignition is first switched on, or the ecu shuts down everything.

If the Demon was never licensed for NepTune then the software can be purchased separately for it. If it was ever licensed for NepTune then it will still be.

a lot of shops prefer hondata because of interface is similar to crome
but I'm guessing hondata is giving incentives to shops to use hondata instead of Neptune... just like any business. shops will tell that one brand is better than other because they get discounted price on parts they sell.
you go to another shop they swear by different brand ...
you just have to look at specs and decide which works better fro you
price features quality etc.

I used to be a hondata dealer. the profit margin for dealers is fairly minimal. I honestly prefer hondata by far, and that opinion is dating back to v1 and v2. the new v3 is insane, and makes me say the same thing 100 times stronger

Another vote for s300, I made the switch from Neptune to Hondata. So much easier to nail the tune down on s300. IMO Hondata have done a better job of how the software calculates for large injectors. For example, 1200cc injectors on Neptune required -85% tip in fuel correction to prevent very rich running when stabbing the throttle open at lower revs and while this cured that scenario it created a lean running condition on smaller throttle changes. On Hondata I only needed to use -10% and the transient fuel enrichment is perfect in all conditions.

just remember one thing
none of us want a monopoly on RTP or standalone ecu

except the monopoly company

if there was no Neptune hondata would be probably double in price
so say thanks to competing brands to bring you better prices
