Okay I don't wanna hear **** about "you don't hear or feel vtec on a single cam" etc. Because I have, and now I do not. And my power curve slopes down after vtec, I make more peak power at 3500 than anything over 5k.

I removed and cleaned the solenoid, and tested the solenoid. It clicks, but the shaft does not move at all. Is this normal? I am assuming maybe it needs oil pressure to actually move the shaft? I reinstalled the solenoid then held the car at 3000 RPM and shorted the wire to positive terminal and it makes absolutely no difference in engine tone at all!

Also just to make sure the solenoid gets power I ran a temporary vtec light, and when the solenoid gets power the light flickers a couple times then goes solid. Is this normal??

Engine: D16Z6, oil level is fine, just did oil change, no CEL at all.

Yep, all wiring is stock and intact and running stock ECU. I just went out and removed the valve cover had my wife start it briefly (what a mess) and shorted the wire to positive terminal and the vtec rocker did not lock.


I removed and checked the solenoid again and the shaft does not move at all. So if it is supposed to, I would say the solenoid is shot. But it does click loudly which is odd.
