Default Recommended Intake manifold for my setup? B-series

Currently have a AEBS intake on my setup...
I'm debating switching to a victorX or Magnus.

84.5mm bore type R. (2L)
ITR head, with Ferrea valves/springs.
Skunk 2 Pro 1's
Custom top mount manifold
3" DP and exhaust all the way back
PTE 5857, .82 AR housing
3" cold side piping, 2.5" hot side, backdoor IC.
AEBS intake manifold port matched to a 70mm S2 TB.

The setup was dyno'd years ago at 450whp, 275tq at 13psi. 91 octane, with a .63 AR housing and 750cc injectors, revving to 9500rpm.

I want to push this setup to 600whp on race gas this spring. I have the .82 housing now, and also 1000cc injectors.

Would the Magnus or Vic-X be beneficial at this power level?
Thx

No. Not really. If the purpose of your car remains the same, actually, you not only don't need a larger plenum with shorter runners to use with that turbocharger, but you don't need a 3" cold pipe into the throttle body either. You'd need to easily be over 750whp or more to need such changes. By then, you've got a lot more to change in terms of hardware..(Basically a new setup), and your purpose would be changing as well.

You can port the AEBS to match close to the 70mm S2 you have and keep going.

Top mount, .82AR, Pro 1's and a 9500RPM powerband....... I do think a short runner intake would more suit this set-up.

Pretty laggy for that topmount using that large of an A/R. He'll get more top end out of the car, but not the mid-range that works a bit more for acceleration. The Pro1 camshafts may work on a turbocharger of that capability, but is best with 61lbs/min and larger turbochargers that are running good boost pressures.

Topmount exhaust manifolds that use 1.75" runners slow things down pretty bad on smaller turbochargers like the 5857. But, it also depends upon his purpose which he didn't state.

If he's street/circuit --- stay with the the current Intake manifold with the longer runners for better torque gains, and stick to the current camshaft and exhaust manifold.

If he's much more drag oriented --- sure, go Victor X, but change the turbocharger to something larger, especially if he's thinking of a topmount. Topmounts with smaller turbochargers, never did makes sense. Even with a .82A/R turbine housing.

So, now OP has two opinions. I'm sure more will come soon.

You know all us Honda guys go a after the most peak HP we can get. We may restrict it in 3 gears but for that fraction of a second in 4th gear........Its there!!

I getcha.. you got jokes today!! But I see that some are seeing the light..

From what I've been experiencing and seeing these last 2-3 years, I've had more Circuit / street and torque monster setups in which NONE of those items were needed. Case-in-point LOWLUDE22. He was still in a .63A/R and slightly larger than a PTE5857 with much more midrange, and was over 650whp, without all that Top mount and Victor X foolishness..

Lowlude22 GS-R page 6 - street / strip

Lowlude22 GS-R page 8 1/2 mile and turning.

Thanks for the replies guys. FYI Shodan, I have already port matched the AEBS.

This car was my summer daily, but now is a weekend driver and I plan to take it to the strip 4-5 times a year (it's 3 hours away) - I'm NE of Toronto, Ontario.

I've always wanted to "max" my setup out, and being tuned on 91 I really have never known whats in it. I'd like to think it has 600+whp in it, just wasn't sure if my manifold was the limiting factor. I still have the .63 housing kicking around...I figured the .82 would be better up top for higher HP. I guess I'll stick with the AEBS and see what she's got.

Oh, and I also made the car push button 4WD last year....Custom machined Front and Rear M-factory helical differentials, custom trailing arms...air actuation (similar to draggbody's build) yada yada...so I'm thinking that 600whp for the street on street tires might actually be fun/functional now....or if I break stuff, that's fun too.

I have a build thread on a dying local forum. I've debated moving it over to HT to share....I'll post my old dyno sheet later tonight, and maybe some AWD pics if anyone's interested.

You don't need a short runner manifold to make power. The fastest 62mm car currently has gone 9.3 if I'm not mistaken with a blox intake manifold and it'll give a better all around power curve. Big plenum short runner will gain a few ponies high rpm but it's not necessary for your goal IMO

Seems everyone's on the same page, I'll keep my AEBS and save the $500 for other things - Thanks!

As promised here's some pics. I've decided ill start a build thread here sometime soon, so I've only highlighted a few here. Turns out my imageshack account is going to die on the 31st, so that sucks.

My dyno from 2012:

Its a H series front diff and D-series rear. The machining for the rear diff into the CRV housing was a ton of work...its all case hardened and everything had to be ground. If I didn't have a tool and die shop at my expense, it would have been a 2k job easy.

Suzuki samurai drive shafts (idea from draggbody, thanks!)

Funky exhaust:

Underneath shot. Made a full custom subframe/trunk and fuel cell.

Alignment time:

My EJ1 daily driver on the right.

There's still some wrinkles to work out...the rear CV's were spliced and welded, it wasn't perfect and I have a vibration. They were just temp to try things out before snow. I hope this year to really let her loose.

Damn bro your awd setup is cool AF
Nice dyno graph too, that thing doesn't look too laggy at all
