B20B engine with P75-5 head swap into 95 Integra RS
Happy New Year, gents and ladies!
Recently the engine on my old 95 Teg RS began giving me the blues after 220K. First it was headgasket then compression began concerning me. More about this on my previous thread: https://honda-tech.com/engine-machin.../#post50638611
Anyhow, I decided to do an engine swap. I noticed the abundance of JDM B20Bs on the market, so I decided to repower my Teg with this more robust plant.
After Ad Nauseum research, I pulled a trigger and bought hi-compression B20B(with knock sensor) from JDM Orlando with 30 days warranty.
I brought it back, connected to my old tranny, cranked it and measured compression on the "bench" before I would go through a pain of installing it.
I did two test:
Test 1:
1. 142
2. 131
3. 155
4. 165
Test 2:
1. 150
2. 125
3. 140
4. 165
This engine appears that it was stored outside, so I am not sure if rings perhaps stuck in cylinders and it will take first 100 miles to regain compression.
Should I take it back and just bring my tranny along to measure every B20B motor that they have to pick a good one?

You're testing a cold engine, that is not recommended for compression testing.
What is also a better test, would be a leakdown test... as this will show you where you are losing compression.
Air movement in the intake manifold=bad intake valve in that cylinder
" " " " exhaust manifold=bad exhaust valve " " "
" " " " oil galleys= bad rings in that cylinder or busted piston
" " " " Coolant passages = head gasket leak in that cylinder

I just did a leak down test.
Every cylinder was in the green.
1. 20%
2. 25%
3. 25%
4. 20%
I didn't notice any PRONOUNCED air movement.
I am thinking on taking this engine on. I am also hoping that once hooked up and warmed up I will have even less loss.

I think I would throw it in the car and get it running before the 30 day warranty. If anything is wrong with it as far as compression/leakdown after it is warmed up, then take it back to them.

Well, I did it. the CR-V engine is in and it runs great! The only problem that I am getting is oxygen sensor "check engine" code.
I will order new oxygen sensor and see if this will solve this
