Default b16a and ecu.. ?

ok heres the deal. got 98 Dx EK with a JDM b16a1 with my stock DX Ecu(OBDII). the shop who did it ran vtec wires and everythin. everythin works fine .. but now just picked up a JDM OBD1 Ecu (p30) with a Pigtail harness for the car.(ObdII-OBDI). once i plug everything in it starts tehn it dies right away... I thought this was plug and play.. can someone help me on this.. do i have to rewire anything to make this work.. remmber. they were using the stock ecu and somehow rigged up the vtec wires.. do i run the vtec wires from the pigtail harness as well ?

it seems weird that vtec would've worked without an vtec equipped ecu (98dx). i have the same setup in a 96 ek- b16a with a skunk2 obd2-1 harness. if you are running your stock wiring harness, you'll need to run the vtec wire into the engine side of your obd conv. harness , where the vtec wire would clip into the plug. (does that make sense)

anyways, a good way to do that is find an old honda wiring harness, remove a pin from a plug, cut it off several inches from the pin, solder that end to the end of your vtec wire, and put the pin into the correct location in the engine harness plug.
get your hands on ANY other obdI ecu and see if the same thing happens.
try this first... with any KNOWN good ecu.
