Default Car cut off while driving

Lastnight while driving my car is suddenly cut off all the dash lights came on. An it coasted to the side of the road. I tried starting it again soon as I turned the key to start it my dash lights went dim an it clicked. Then it sat for a few tried it again dash lights got even dimmer. Car has oil in it ran good before this happend. I checked the battery cables an ground it was fine. Towed the car back home. Haven't tried jumping it yet. Just curious to kno if anyone has any ideas on this.

What car and what engine?

Sounds like the distributor coil went bad.

Got starting fluid?

If it doesn't start with starting fluid, first suspect is spark.

Check battery voltage, without the jumper cables. Check the engine bay fusebox wiring to see if you're getting 12v from the battery.

Check main relay for cracked soldered joint. May need resolder.

All power dying when you turn the key to ON(III)? That sounds like a dead key cylinder to me.
