OBD1 to OBD2
Hey Guys,
I've been searching for weeks now and still no luck.
I have a 93 Civic DX with a blown z6 motor. I bought a 99 y8 with ecu, Tranny and engine harness. I tried to chase all the wires from the old to the new and still nothing. I want to get this thing running since its my daily driver.
could anyone direct me to any info that can shed some light?
There is the driver side plug that i cant make out what wires go to what. Im just about to call an electrician but if i can save some money i wouldnt mind doing the work myself and keeping it as clean as possible.
Thanks

You're overthinking it. Converting your entire car to OBD2 is silly. Keep your stock harness. Get your ECU socketted (Zenocron can do this for you), and install a Y8 "chip" (Zenocron can also do this for you). Install the Y8 using the original OBD1 engine harness, install the chipped ECU, and boom, you're done.
I want a clean Installation, that's why im looking for help with getting the the right connections to the fuel pump, starter and dash components. im not running anything complicated just need help with the wiring. I dont want to chip anything when i already have a factory ecu.
There is a plug at the end of the engine harness that goes to the interior harness, I need help with finding what wire goes to what wire.

These are things that have been done by thousands of people before you. We know how to do it. We know what we're talking about. If you want a clean install, then follow our lead.

If you were wondering about using a U.S. OBD2 civic engine wire harness - fuggedaboudit - you cannot use an OBD2 civic wire harness in an OBD1 vehicle because of it's 1-piece design (harness is one piece from the engine through the firewall, all the way to the ecu plugs). OBD1 civic/delsol/integra & OBD2 integra's all use a 2-piece design (harness breaks off at the shock towers) which makes it possible for backwards compatibility.

I know that you guys know what you're talking about, that's why I'm here looking for help. I was just under the assumption that if i could link all the proper wires to the proper wires, it would work just fine.
The reference page you provided is really helpful, i have to really look through it and see what i can gather from it.
As far and what i assumed, with the matching of the proper wire to the proper wire, am i just chasing my tail or will it work?

Look forward to adding an extra oxygen sensor right past your catalytic converter, adding fuel tank pressure sensors including the fuel tank from a 96-00 vehicle, wiring in all the EVAP sensors including using a charcoal canister from the vehicle the ECU is from. I'm not really sure if you're trying to use the Y8 harness or a combo of both?
I wont be attempting this any longer just need to find out what i need now to get this thing back on the road.
I have my old z6 harness, a p28 and a y8 motor, harness and ecu. Can you shed some light on what i can do to get this thing running?

Use the Z6 harness. Install the Y8. Call Xenocron, and get them to socket your P28. Also have them make a Y8 chip for you. Easy as that. You may have to do some minor wiring work, but there's a sticky thread for that.

I just want to get it going and then worry about the rest later.
I already have the engine in the car and since i thought i could use the engine harness, i cut a hole in my fire wall. I made a pretty clean hole so now i have to close it up. It's all ready to go with the exception of the wiring.
Since now i know i cannot use the obd2, what are my options?
Can i use my existing p28 and rewire the distributor? I'm asking since i need something soon. Xenocron might take some time to get me what i need or am i casing my tail with that too?
I really appreciate the help.
